Today it was really rainy!! we warmed up inside, and then Tyler, Jace and i went and got some rain gear. and went outside. We were soaked by the time we got back to weber!! mostly because I was jumping in the puddles!! =D it was way fun! we ran for 5 miles and then i stretched and did abs, and then iced.

Today was the usual, Warm up 2 laps, agilities then some static stretching, i don't think i've said this enough or too little but i think it's pretty stupid to warm up with the whole team agilities and static when Distance is going to be doing a long or short easy run! we did a 30 minute run today and yet we still had to do all the warm ups! it doesn't do anything for me! Run felt pretty good, but my legs weren't too happy about wearing old shoes cause i forgot my new ones at home, cause they were soaked when i woke up cause i forgot to dry them last night :( I'm running the 1600m tomorrow!!! I'm ranked 9th in both the 16 and 32!! it'll be a fight to take top 5 but i know i can do it!! =D soooooo excited!!! State here i come!!! =D

Race: Region 1 Championships Day 1 (1 Miles) 00:04:38

Region was today!!! We got there and i really wanted to qualify for state in the 1600m i had a few hours to kill so i covered up in sweats and a hoodie and fell asleep for a very long time. Carlos thought it would be funny to pour water on me while i slept. i wasn't too happy about that!! but it was kinda funny! eventually after sleep and trying to stay out of the sun, i decided to get up and watch the races going on. Keaton Briggs totally killed in the prelims of the 100m Hurdles! I warmed up for about 10 minutes and began to do some quick stretching and agilities. I've found that i run better if i'm still a little tight. my hamstring wasn't feeling it too much though. soon we were on the line and i was projected 9th place at the start. not too bad i would just have to push hard and try to take top 5. I felt good during the race and was giving it my all but i didn't run very smart and i ended up running a 4:38.71 not my best race and definately slower than i wanted. I wasn't very happy about not qualifying but i still had the 3200 the next day. I'm really proud and happy with myself this year in track, i never knew i would be running 4:30's i know in college i'll get faster with training. I did a 15 min cool down and stretched. Paxton was really happy with my performance. I was happy walking off the track with my 1600.

Race: Region 1 Championships Day 2 (2 Miles) 00:09:49, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1

Day 2 of Region!!!! sooooo excited for the 3200 i was!!!! we showed up at Syracuse and chilled in the shade by the restrooms cause there was none anywhere else. Paxton kept telling me to get covered up and stay out of the sun. it was about 70ish out sooooo that wasn't really going to happen. I decided to warm up because it was about 30 minutes before my race and need to do what i usually do i warmed up 10 and did some brief stretching and agilities. the girls ran first and then we were up. Dustin and i had been talking about some stratagy, he said that Caleb would go out about 70 so i should run about a 75 first lap. i was thinking the same thing. Before i knew it we were lined up on the track. I was going in at 9th place but was now 8th because Dustin wasn't running it. (he had already qualified time wise). the Race started and i went out quickly to make sure i had a good start and didn't get boxed in. I was sitting behind and in a nice group of well Davis runners. my first lap was a 71!!! 71!! WAY FAST FOR THE FIRST LAP. now looking at it Caleb must have ran a 67 or so cause he had a good 3 or so second lead on the chase pack. the laps quickly began to amount up. By around the third lap we were pulling Caleb in. I remember thinking about bike racing and how theres usually a leader who breaks away from the pelaton. We pulled him in before the first mile. my first mile was 4:53!! right on qualifying pace!! I remember counting the runners in front of me. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ok i need to move up a little. through out the rest of the race i was slowly working my way through the pack. going onto the end of the 6th lap i passed inbetween two Davis runners and one was talking to the other trying to motivate him. I think passing in between them showed them who's race this was gonna be. Alex was in the lead only by about 7 feet and i caught up to him and came onto his wing going into the 7th lap. We started to pick up the pace a lot and i passed him on the back stretch and was leading for a little. He passed me going into the last lap, i thought he had me, that i couldn't get him. I decided to give it one more shot, and on the back stretch i passed him. I hit the 200 meter mark and was on my toes kicking (i always kick at 200m) I felt the power and motivation and energy that this was mine, that i was going to state. I was pushing sooooo hard, giving it my all. I crossed the line in 1st place, region champ and a huge PR. none of that went through my mind though. all i could think about was i was going to State!! Paxton was freaking out and i was yelling i was going to state!! i was sooooo happy!! I knew i could qualify, but never thought i'd win. I had a 17 second PR the time was 9:49.92 Just 5 seconds shy of qualifying time!! my legs were soooo tired and i was sooo happy to end my senior year with a big bang at Region! State is going to be soooo much fun!! Everyone said that it was sooo funny to watch Paxton freak out. later watching video of my race it looks like i finished with a 50 meter or so lead.

Later i had the 800 i didn't really want to run it but i was laughing when i got up to the line cause i was in last on the waterfall. I ended up dropping out half way through cause of my legs and didn't see that it was worth it. Region was amazing and State is going to be even better!!

Senior Cotillion was today and part of Susannah and I's day activity was Running!!! No surprise there!! Susannah was doing a speed interval workout, Paxton wanted me to do a 3 mile tempo. I ran it in about 16:40ish i can't remember the time but it was quick. I then paced Susannah in her workout for a few intervals. she was doing 600, 500, 400, 300, 200 2X's and i only did a few because my hamstring wasn't very happy. It was way fun! we cooled down and stretched after that. It was pretty windy too and there was a ton of Army people on the track and there were some special needs runners too and they were doing some shotput with baseballs and jav, with some kind of thing. It was way cool!! Susannahs gonna go under 5 at state!!! =D
