Today was the Grizzly Invite!! woke up at a very unwanted time in the morning. we all got onto one bus and then we had to move to another bus because we didn't need two.... we kind of slept but the amazing Susannah called me in the morning and started the day out better than the weather (i love hearing your voice, makes my world go round (that and running)) ha ha well it was raining lightly when we got there and we just had a giant pile up of us guys to keep warm, it was funny and warm. Dustin did pretty darn good in the 3200 ran a 9:53, not his best but then again this is a smaller meet. Then after a billion sprinting events Jace and I finally got to warm up for the mile! Jace was totally pumped cause he wanted to break 5 sooooo bad! he was in the second heat, he ran a 4:55. I was totally ready for my race, i had warmed up great, stretched perfectly, applied biofreeze at the right moments to keep my hamstrings loose. First mistake, i ran with a watch..... i know i cannot do that..... i've known it since being a sophomore and yet i still did it. I was a little nervious, scared and stuff but i told myself: "you know what you just run your own race and hit your times, don't worry about placement or the other runners." it helped a lot. (ps i also had India written on my left calf and SH for Susannah Hurst on my Right) it really started to rain.... like really bad when the 3rd heat (us) lined up. I was mentally strong and ready to go, pumped and excited. the first lap was a 69 i was feeling strong and wonderful (i was going off a 68 pace written on my wrist.....(second mistake)) the second lap was the same 69 i crossed at 2:18. two seconds slow of the pace i was going off of. still good though.                               I have no idea why, how or what happened during my 3rd and 4th laps. i was right on in the beginning. another thing i couldn't figure out was why my hamstrings were tight and not feeling it. I did everything right, and the sad part is that it wasn't even were i'm injured! my third lap was a 3:34, i would have to run a 60 to get my time. I started to pick it up and i felt like i was running my hardest through the whole race. I still have no idea why or how, i feel sooooo dissapointed in myself right now. I promise next week at the Clearfield meet, i'm running a 4:30!! this is sooo not going to happen again. I Can't wait for next week. the meet wasn't a total bust. the Sun came out and things cleared up. i couldn't do the steeplechase because of my hamstrings :( i did get to talk to susannah again with totally brightened the day. good job with your races and especially with East Girls beating fremont girls!!! :D way to kick pockets
