Real Men Wear Short Shorts!! Running Blog at FastRunningBlog.Com http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/ Fri, 26 Apr 2024 17:37:28 FeedCreator 1.7.2 Mon, May 16, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-16-2011.html Today it was the usual, two laps warm up on the track. agilities and stretching. then Paxton gave me, Karlee, Kensie and Tyler our workouts and only stayed for the first set. I was to do 2x (1000, 3x 400) i ran a 3:09, 73, 69, 69, 3:07, 69, 69, 68. then did a 15 minute cool down, it was a pretty tough workout mostly from the wind on the back stretch! i had to give it my all on the last 400 to hit that 68! i usually hit 67-68 but today was kinda slow =/ I'm totally pumped for State this Friday and Saturday!! i feel ready!! Mon, 16 May 2011 06:00:00 Sat, May 14, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-14-2011.html Senior Cotillion was today and part of Susannah and I's day activity was Running!!! No surprise there!! Susannah was doing a speed interval workout, Paxton wanted me to do a 3 mile tempo. I ran it in about 16:40ish i can't remember the time but it was quick. I then paced Susannah in her workout for a few intervals. she was doing 600, 500, 400, 300, 200 2X's and i only did a few because my hamstring wasn't very happy. It was way fun! we cooled down and stretched after that. It was pretty windy too and there was a ton of Army people on the track and there were some special needs runners too and they were doing some shotput with baseballs and jav, with some kind of thing. It was way cool!! Susannahs gonna go under 5 at state!!! =D Sat, 14 May 2011 06:00:00 Fri, May 13, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-13-2011.html Today i did not run, Paxton told me to take a walk, unfortunately i didn't have time anyways, because i had my EMT Pratical exam that day. =( i wanted to run soooo bad!!! we were sooo bored in the room for 4 hours!!! Fri, 13 May 2011 06:00:00 Thu, May 12, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-12-2011.html
Day 2 of Region!!!! sooooo excited for the 3200 i was!!!! we showed up at Syracuse and chilled in the shade by the restrooms cause there was none anywhere else. Paxton kept telling me to get covered up and stay out of the sun. it was about 70ish out sooooo that wasn't really going to happen. I decided to warm up because it was about 30 minutes before my race and need to do what i usually do i warmed up 10 and did some brief stretching and agilities. the girls ran first and then we were up. Dustin and i had been talking about some stratagy, he said that Caleb would go out about 70 so i should run about a 75 first lap. i was thinking the same thing. Before i knew it we were lined up on the track. I was going in at 9th place but was now 8th because Dustin wasn't running it. (he had already qualified time wise). the Race started and i went out quickly to make sure i had a good start and didn't get boxed in. I was sitting behind and in a nice group of well Davis runners. my first lap was a 71!!! 71!! WAY FAST FOR THE FIRST LAP. now looking at it Caleb must have ran a 67 or so cause he had a good 3 or so second lead on the chase pack. the laps quickly began to amount up. By around the third lap we were pulling Caleb in. I remember thinking about bike racing and how theres usually a leader who breaks away from the pelaton. We pulled him in before the first mile. my first mile was 4:53!! right on qualifying pace!! I remember counting the runners in front of me. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ok i need to move up a little. through out the rest of the race i was slowly working my way through the pack. going onto the end of the 6th lap i passed inbetween two Davis runners and one was talking to the other trying to motivate him. I think passing in between them showed them who's race this was gonna be. Alex was in the lead only by about 7 feet and i caught up to him and came onto his wing going into the 7th lap. We started to pick up the pace a lot and i passed him on the back stretch and was leading for a little. He passed me going into the last lap, i thought he had me, that i couldn't get him. I decided to give it one more shot, and on the back stretch i passed him. I hit the 200 meter mark and was on my toes kicking (i always kick at 200m) I felt the power and motivation and energy that this was mine, that i was going to state. I was pushing sooooo hard, giving it my all. I crossed the line in 1st place, region champ and a huge PR. none of that went through my mind though. all i could think about was i was going to State!! Paxton was freaking out and i was yelling i was going to state!! i was sooooo happy!! I knew i could qualify, but never thought i'd win. I had a 17 second PR the time was 9:49.92 Just 5 seconds shy of qualifying time!! my legs were soooo tired and i was sooo happy to end my senior year with a big bang at Region! State is going to be soooo much fun!! Everyone said that it was sooo funny to watch Paxton freak out. later watching video of my race it looks like i finished with a 50 meter or so lead.

Later i had the 800 i didn't really want to run it but i was laughing when i got up to the line cause i was in last on the waterfall. I ended up dropping out half way through cause of my legs and didn't see that it was worth it. Region was amazing and State is going to be even better!!
Thu, 12 May 2011 06:00:00 Wed, May 11, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-11-2011.html Region was today!!! We got there and i really wanted to qualify for state in the 1600m i had a few hours to kill so i covered up in sweats and a hoodie and fell asleep for a very long time. Carlos thought it would be funny to pour water on me while i slept. i wasn't too happy about that!! but it was kinda funny! eventually after sleep and trying to stay out of the sun, i decided to get up and watch the races going on. Keaton Briggs totally killed in the prelims of the 100m Hurdles! I warmed up for about 10 minutes and began to do some quick stretching and agilities. I've found that i run better if i'm still a little tight. my hamstring wasn't feeling it too much though. soon we were on the line and i was projected 9th place at the start. not too bad i would just have to push hard and try to take top 5. I felt good during the race and was giving it my all but i didn't run very smart and i ended up running a 4:38.71 not my best race and definately slower than i wanted. I wasn't very happy about not qualifying but i still had the 3200 the next day. I'm really proud and happy with myself this year in track, i never knew i would be running 4:30's i know in college i'll get faster with training. I did a 15 min cool down and stretched. Paxton was really happy with my performance. I was happy walking off the track with my 1600. Wed, 11 May 2011 06:00:00 Tue, May 10, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-10-2011.html Today was the usual, Warm up 2 laps, agilities then some static stretching, i don't think i've said this enough or too little but i think it's pretty stupid to warm up with the whole team agilities and static when Distance is going to be doing a long or short easy run! we did a 30 minute run today and yet we still had to do all the warm ups! it doesn't do anything for me! Run felt pretty good, but my legs weren't too happy about wearing old shoes cause i forgot my new ones at home, cause they were soaked when i woke up cause i forgot to dry them last night :( I'm running the 1600m tomorrow!!! I'm ranked 9th in both the 16 and 32!! it'll be a fight to take top 5 but i know i can do it!! =D soooooo excited!!! State here i come!!! =D Tue, 10 May 2011 06:00:00 Mon, May 09, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-09-2011.html Today it was really rainy!! we warmed up inside, and then Tyler, Jace and i went and got some rain gear. and went outside. We were soaked by the time we got back to weber!! mostly because I was jumping in the puddles!! =D it was way fun! we ran for 5 miles and then i stretched and did abs, and then iced. Mon, 09 May 2011 06:00:00 Sat, May 07, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-07-2011.html Day 2 of the BYU Invatational!!!! totally epic! Got to drive down (even though i wasn't suppose too!) But i warmed up 10 minutes with Susannah. I then hurried up and grabbed my spikes cause they were sorting everyone in the bull pen and i needed to hurry up. Jamon Carver was in my heat so as we were sitting there stretching and doing some agilities on the track, i was going over some strategy with him, i told him that we should work together on the last two laps and push each other cause i knew that the race would pull us into a 2:15ish 800, and it did i crossed about 2:15-16. not quite sure but it was basically right on pace. I told him that not to take the lead too early otherwise we'll die. We lined up and i made sure i got a good start this time. i was in a pretty good position the whole time. it was going onto the 2nd lap when i saw Jamon sprint up to the front. (his one mistake) he knows and i know that if he goes out too fast i'll catch him no matter what. I did, by the time i was on the third lap i was ahead of him! i was pushing it as hard as i could that third lap so i could stay consistant. I was pushing as hard as i could and by the 200 meter mark i was on my toes and passing some kids. I crossed the line at 4:36! a 3 second PR!!! soooo happy about that! =D I was soooo tired afterwards i took a while to recover, after i cooled down and stretched i went and fell asleep next to Susannah under the East High tent. My Medley team came and got me (I was actually surprised that they knew where to find me!!) This was my first time doing the Medley ever and my first time this year doing the 800 competatively. We warmed up, but warmed up too early cause we sat around for soooooo long!! it sucked. we finally got out on the track, and I was in first place when they handed off to me for the 800! i held it for the first lap and ran a 61, unfortunately i wasn't fresh and the mile really began to sink in! i ended up running a 2:08! not bad but i could have ran 2:01 or so. I had to leave for SLC for pics but came back after to try to catch Susannahs races, but sadly i missed those. i did get to watch some more of Weber race which was way cool! Best two day meet since Simplot Games!! =D Sat, 07 May 2011 06:00:00 Fri, May 06, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-06-2011.html Today was Day 1 of the BYU Invite!!! i didn't get to race today in the 3200 =( oh well i did get to warm up and cool down and watch Susannah run her races and watch everyone else from Weber race!!! it was way fun!!! Fri, 06 May 2011 06:00:00 Thu, May 05, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-05-2011.html Today was same as usual, only i did a 30 minute run. Super easy, getting ready for the BYU Invite!! felt pretty good! still breaking in my new shoes! Thu, 05 May 2011 06:00:00 Wed, May 04, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-04-2011.html We had a Trimeet at Syracuse today!! pretty epic! it was an easy to moderate, ok easy day for me! ha ha, Paxton didn't want me running hard so to make things a wee bit more interesting. I decided to change my names..... and take last!!! =D it was sooooo epic!!! ha ha ha i ran a 6:04 mile which felt soooo slow and nice!! I didn't even warm up! i just ran over and hopped in! my name was Napolian Dynamite. then we decided to sunbath with our shirts off and shorts rolled up in the middle of the football field!! Paxton came and yelled at us to put some clothes on!! The 3200 was even more epic!! Jace, Stephen Baker, and Steven Benett and i all decided to go slow, and change our names!! Jace was Princess Consuela, Stehpen Baker was Thing 1, Steven Benett was Stevo Bonito and i was Fredrico Caliente!!! i ran about a 15:00 3200 so pretty darn slow. part of the reason was i turned around and ran the opposite way. and Jace and i were slapping each other the whole time!!! it was a grand old meet to screw off in!! Wed, 04 May 2011 06:00:00 Tue, May 03, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-03-2011.html Everything was the same as usual. warm up 2 laps and the abilities and then static stretching. Today's work out was miserable. I was suppose to do what everyone did yesterday. I did only 2 out of the 3 sets of 800, 400, and 2x 200 but my 2nd set i did a 4 instead of the 2's. my times were 2:23, 69, 34, 35, 2:25, 67, 66. I got my time down to the pace i wanted but the wind was really pushing me back. it was terrrible and i was pissed about it cause i wanted to work hard and land some good times today, but the wind was making it really hard! my hamstrings weren't hurting, but the wind resistance was really making them burn. I did 15 minutes cool down. and stretched. I talked to the Orion Jr. High kids and helped them with some form and running stuff. so it was fun to see some old friends or young friends i haven't seen in a while. not the greatest day of running. Bights side of the day. I got my new Brooks!!! first day wearing them tomorrow!! Tue, 03 May 2011 06:00:00 Mon, May 02, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-05-02-2011.html Today was basic, warm up two laps, then agilities, Paxton surprised me by saying i was gonna have an easy day today. So i ran With Dustin and another friend and we did 40 minutes or so. it felt way nice. my calves were pretty tight and what not but i got a full body massage when i got home so that should help a lot!!! =D Mon, 02 May 2011 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 30, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-30-2011.html
We had the Davis Invite today!!! absolutely amazing!! Unfortonatly i missed out of the Invite by a hair :/ oh well. So i woke up around 7 and took a shower and got ready and left. We met up with the bus and were soon on our way. Only tired out of our minds!! after trying to sleep on the bus we eventually showed up at Davis and began to settle in. The Bletchers we set our stuff on had water on them and snow which was frozen!! Its was way cold and we could see our breath so Tyler, Jace and I decided to go into the school, find a bathroom and keep warm in there. Mostly cause the meet hadn't started yet and we weren't to race for a while. We Found some patches of sun that was beaming through a window (Something us Warriors don't know about :P) so we literally laid in it and soaked up the Window and Warmth of it! Ha ha even Talley commented on how we found the little patch of sunlight so lay in!! at this moment my Ipod stopped working >:( totally ruined my plans for later! but i told them that after about an hour of laying around and screwing off, i was gonna go to the bathroom and then go warm up for the mile. It hadn't warmed up very much, so i started a 10 minute warm up and ran into the most amazing girl i the world, Susannah Hurst!! I said hello and gave her a hug and told her that i was gonna go on my warm up and that i'll see her in a second. so off i went. my legs were a little sore, my shins have been bugging lately and stuff so i knew i needed a good one. I finished and went and got my spikes and was stretching when Susannah came over and we began to talk. And she said that she was gonna cheer here by my parents. I went to the Start line and did some agilities. We lined up for the mile and they were doing a triple water fall. so i knew i needed to get a good start. That didn't happen. the whole time i was staring up at Daniel and Jamon trying to figure out how in the world i was gonna get up there. I got boxed in sooooo bad i could not get around and pick things up. just wasn't gonna happen. i finish behind Jamon and had a time of 4:44. ( terrible time for that day, i was going for a 4:30). but that didn't get me down, i still had the 3200 left to do! I Cooled down inside with Susannah and Abigail and we ran around and saw their team scattered everywhere. she showed me where they were situated in the gym. and we hung out there a little bit. It was snowing really bad out side!!! the meet was postponed for 10 minutes which also really messed up the schedule and i had no idea when to warm up for the 3200. It was wonderful being able to hang out with Susannah the whole time. I soon had to warm up for the 2 mile and began doing that, but first i had to talk to Paxton and figure out when i should cause by then the meet was an hour and a half behind schedule (no surprise really). I did a 10 minute warm up again, and then took a quick bathroom break, while waiting for a stall i decided to get my brief stretching in. I got outside and noticed that there was 2 laps left for the girls 3200. Great i still had to do some agilities and put on my spikes. Paxton yelled at me for not being over there. oh and i didn't have my sticker yet!! But everything worked fine, i got my spikes on just in time to get a few brief agilities in. I lined up and i was 5th seated in the race. We got ready and the gun shot. I wasn't messing around with the placement this time in the start. i got out there and saw the waterfall to my right so i pulled into lane 1 and let them come in. i knew i'd work my way up. a kid went out way fast and i pulled him in by lap 3 and was then leading the race. first mile was 5:02. everytime a kid would come up to me on my wing i'd speed up. I wasn't gonna let anyone take the lead. this was my race. and that got to their heads all through the race. cause i kicked it and won by 10 meters. my final time was 10:06!! i didn't slow down that much!! it felt amazing and i fought for it!!

It was now the Invited section of the Davis meet!! I sat around with Susannah the whole time and we played the Dot game and talked cause she had to stay off her feet (oh i also forgot i gave her an awesome list!!!) I warmed up and Cooled down with her which was amazing!! it was soooooo much fun being able to hang out with her at a track meet again!! I cheered her on in her 800 leg of the medley and John and Abigail and everyone else had me in lock down so i couldn't go down and see her right before her race! Their team took first in the race!! Soon came Susannah's 3200 race!! we cheered her on for that and she was fighting this girl and totally showing her whos race this was, until she nearly tripped her!! and started to shove her! >:( totally not a true racer! Susannah was really up set about the race and she ended up taking 3rd cause this girl was such a jerk. She didn't want to go get her award so we warmed up to our tree and chilled there for a little bit. We spent the rest of the meet cheering and having a great time!! it was soooo much fun and i can't wait for BYU!!!!
Sat, 30 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 28, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-28-2011.html Well today was the usual, get dressed, and head up to the track. we did two laps warm up and then did agilities and stretched. Paxton told us 45 minutes moderate, with 5 one minute pick ups. I ran with Nate again and we were talking about some of the runners on our team and how they could be a lot better and how some aren't mentally strong. it's fun running with him cause i help him a lot and he usually has a good story to tell! we were running up on Canal Road and there were some fires going from burning somethings and so that kinda sucked cause we had to hold our breath while we ran through the smoke! but we got a ways out!! after we got back to the school we did abs with Paxton. so we found out that she works out like 5 hours a day and stuff. she's intense!!! ha ha ha it was funny earlier cause Thelan Purin, was running away from her and i ran up while she was walking towards him, and closed the gates that were there, and i was yelling at him to run and save himself!!! and Paxton pushed me aside and opened the gates at the same time, and Tyler said, and the gate of Hell open.... its was sooooooo funny! but her abs hurt and she makes us do a ton of arms too! i found i kinda like doing them by myself cause i get a better work out! then i stretched and went home!! Thu, 28 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 27, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-27-2011.html
Today was a Tri meet with Viewmont and Clearfield!! way fun!!! So it all started out back at Weber. I got out of class a little early but it really didn't matter much cause i wasn't gonna be there long anyways. And i went down to the locker room and got changed. Then headed out to the bus, When Susannah called!! i laid down to get comfortable and talk to her, when Paxton yelled at us all to get on the bus. Which sucked cause it was loud on the bus and we didn't get to talk to long. But still wishing her good luck and hearing her voice and laugh really helped motivate me =D So we got to Viewmont eventually and we all had to go to the bathroom so we went and we had fun with the air dryer!! we were blowing up our jackets and looked fat! it was way funny! so i was sitting around doing nothing and started Texting Abigail cause she was updating me on Susannahs race. Cause i was super excited for it!! Congrats a new State Record Holder!!!! your amazing and just adding to your fame!! =D The 1600 finally came around and Tyler ran a 4:43 i think and won it (that would have been nice cause i could have won it and most likely PR'd!!) but it was fun yelling at him to pass the two kids infront of him! So my race finally came around, and i had warmed up well, and didn't stretch much but that really helped i think, cause i think i can get too lose and it really affects me. My first mile felt great i was a little tired but i crossed at 5:02!! i slowed down to about 76 to 79 :( which wasn't very good, but i started to pick it up the last two laps and was fighting soooooo hard that last lap. i just kept telling myself to not give up and to keep pushing and run for Susannah and it was way hard but i did it!!!! i ran a unofficial 10:11 which is a new PR!!!!! i can't wait for the 1600 at Davis!! 4:30 here i come!!! =D

Wed, 27 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 26, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-26-2011.html
Paxton finally got some sense on easy days for us!!! you see on easy days we distance runners still have to go up and warm up with the team and waste time while it's an easy run so we don't have to warm up and stretch before. but she just told us that we were to run 5 miles or 40 minutes basically so we ran 40 minutes down to highway 89. the one run that seems to get shorter and shorter each time we run it! I was very sore from yesterday! everything is a wee bit unhappy, but i'm gonna roll out tonight so i'm ready to PR tomorrow at the Viewmont meet!! =D but afterwards we did a ton of abs and planks and pushups and just not to fun stuff! everything is screaming at me but it all felt way good!! i'm ready to kick butt tomorrow! :D I can't wait for the Davis Invite once again this week!! i'm running the mile and the two mile! then i get to cheer Susannah on!

Tue, 26 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 25, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-25-2011.html
Today it was the usual, go to the locker room, get dressed. laugh and yell at each other and joke around. Tyler was telling me about how crazy the workout was going to be. I was totally dreading doing it, cause i was still a little sore from Friday, but that ten mile recovery run with Susannah really helped the soreness. We went up to the track and did two laps warm up and agilities, and distance was doing agilities separate cause all the sprinters and throwers thought they only had to run one lap warm up so they were ahead of us. We eventually got to the work out and i was to do 2x (1200, 3x 400, 200) my splits were: 3:48, 69, 69, 68, 34, 3:44, 67, 67, 65, 34. it was actually pretty hard and i could really feel the burn in my legs! I felt really good that i was speeding up and working harder, i love to push myself! I then did a mile and a half cool down and then stretched in the locker room, it was way nice that i finished before everyone else, cause it started to pour rain, and Karlee had a cramp in her leg so I was able to run over and help calm her down while Paxton stretched her leg. I'm way excited for the Viewmont meet wednesday and the Davis Invite Saturday cause i'm going to PR everything and i get to spend more time with Susannah!!

Mon, 25 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 23, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-23-2011.html Ok today was absolutely amazing!! =D woke up around 7 and left for Salt Lake City! Went to Susannahs house and surprised her with some flowers! and She said that we were gonna run Pipeline, so we headed up to the adventure, and eventually got to the trail head. This Trail was totally amazing!! it was about 4.7 miles to the end where we had the most beautiful view of the Salt Lake Valley! We were on top of the world, on top of a pipe, together! :D ha ha i think Susannahs the only one whose gonna get that! it was an amazing 10 mile run and was way beautiful. the Water we felt was way cold! after we went to Eggs in the City! The two best things ever!! Breakfast and Running!! I had an amazing rest of the Day with Susannah and the activities and everything was awesome!! I can't wait till she comes up to my house and run's in the OV!!! Sat, 23 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Fri, Apr 22, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-22-2011.html Well I hurried down to the locker room to get changed and head up to the track because it was such and amazing day!! It was soooo warm and beautiful outside i just had to hurry! (plus perfect short tanning time! ha ha ha XD) So we did our two laps for warm up, and then we started agilities. I asked Nathan if he know what the workout was cause i had no idea and hadn't talked to Paxton all day except for when she told me to go to class cause i was lollygaging to debate :P So after all that we started the work out, this had to be probably the hardest work out she has given me. Originally I was suppose to do 3x (4x200, 1000, 2x200) but she knows 200's are too explosive on my hamstring cause they are too short so my work out was 3x (2x400, 1000, 400) not too bad i thought cause i've done one exactly like this before...... only this time i would be going faster... a lot faster!! my splits were: 69, 68, 3:11, 66 for the first set, 69, 68, 3:11, 67, for the second set and finally: 68, 68, 3:08, 65!!! it was insane! sooooo hard and intense! i was feeling like i was a little slower on the 400's cause i should be hitting 67-68 at this point, but then again i was running by myself and i'm recovering from being sick so that could be it but it really was harder than the last one cause it was at a faster pace! i feel sooooo accomplished though!! 4:30 mile here i come!! :D so after i went down and stretched with Ryan and Dustin (White rice, not India) and Ryan was complaining about the sprinters workout (ok this totally proves that Distance Runners are awesome and beasts!! Go Us!!! :D ok so he's a sprinter and he said that they only did 4 200 meeter runs and stuff and he felt like he wasn't being pushed or challenged enough so he went and talk to Paxton to see if he could do anything, and she had him run 400's with Tyler who was doing a 800 meter runners workout. and he totally hates the sprinters workouts cause they are too easy for him (and keep in mind Ryan ran Cross Country) and so now he's starting to do our workouts and stuff, it's pretty funny! Sprinters don't know what we are made of!! ha ha i decided to take an icebath and i asked White Rice if he wanted to, and he said he'd never taken one before but would like to try it! ha ha ha you should have seen him shiver! sooooooooo funny, i hope in and it didn't seem very cold and it was 54 degrees!! we took one for 15 minutes and then i went to get changed in the locker room. GOT SOME GOSSNER MILK FROM LEES!!! YUMMY!!! BEST STUFF EVER!! overall very hard and good workout! i'm definately sore and looking forward to a fun 10 mile or so run with Susannah Hurst tomorrow morning and then breakfast and what ever we make up after that!!!! I'm soooo happy right now :D Fri, 22 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Thu, Apr 21, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-21-2011.html Well it seemed like it was going to rain pretty good cause the thunder and rain were shaking the entire building and you could hear the pattering of the rain too! Anyways so I was feeling like i was gonna throw up and everything and i had noooo idea if i could make it through the day. yet alone even do a 5 mile easy run without throwing up everything! but we went up to the track and i was wearing my Boston Marathon Jacket from 1999 (It's totally awesome) cause of the rain. Paxton told me to lead Drills and stuff, so i lined everyone up and we started! ha ha i also turned in my Cross Country Shorts =( to Chili and then i helped him email a few coaches regarding my interest in their schools and running for them. so after we warmed up, Jace and i ran around the baseball field for 40 minutes talking about everything! ha ha ha it was pretty fun and he gave me some more teasing sessions about you Susannah ha ha ha, i totally defended you by saying what you said on facebook! We got pretty muddy cause the baseball field has the worst drainage problem in the entire world!! so after we went inside and streched and we were feeling pretty sick so we left without doing abs and so we could get some sleep and feel better! running today really got some stress out even though a lot of the day was really lazy! Thu, 21 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Wed, Apr 20, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-20-2011.html
Ok so today was my birthday and it started out amazing!! i was really excited for the track meet! just totally ready to PR my mile and everything! well do to my stupidity and didn't turn in my XC shorts (which are amazing and awesome) Paxton said she i couldn't run and that she was gonna get mean and give me a hard workout! (i've never seen here get mean or mad before so it scared me.....literally i'm sooooo turning the shorts in cause i don't want to go through hell with her) so i totally broke down cause i was ready for this meet and i tried explaining to her about how those are really the only shorts i could wear, and i don't have any other good ones like them, and the ones i was wearing i'd been talked to about multiple times about covering up and stuff and that i couldn't wear them, and the new shorts i just bought for 20 bucks from chili don't even fit which is a waste so now i'm stuck in my awesome extremely talked about good or bad short shorts (I swear i'm the only one on the team who gets picked on for this kind of crap i.e. short shorts, shaved legs, etc...) so i was totally bummed and pissed off about not being able to run the race that ment sooooo much to me. Paxton wanted me to do a 20 minute tempo run as hard as i could, i'm guessing she lessened it cause it was my B-Day i could totally tell she was gonna say 30min (which would have sucked!!) so i was warming up for that in circles waiting for Susannah to show up, and when she did i went up and i talked to her and her mom about what we were going to do, and i told her that i had to run 20 min thats all and i'll be back so she decided to wait for me, and i went on my way. I made my way through a lot of sub divisions and actually ran into Susannah while zig zagging back and forth to the main road, i really picked it up and pushed it hard on this. I eventually got back to the car, and we grabbed the Cupcakes (which were AMAZING!!) and Susannah and i went for a cool down/very prolonged run, i showed her the Clearfield Cross Country course and we played around on the kids track that was painted on the ground! then we went and sat next to a tree and just talked and laughed and hung out and stretched!! it was sooo much fun to spend some time with her, we eventually made it back to the track meet and cheered on some of the race. and somehow only two Cupcakes were missing!! so i grabbed one and then i told the distance runners and some other kids that they could have one. they all loved them! we sat and talked and took some pictures and watched the meet some more and sadly Susannah had to leave :( but i'll see her soon! were gonna go run Pipeline!! way excited for that! when the boys 3200 came around a little bit after she left, India Dustin was running it soooo slow it was way funny and we were cheering him on and stuff! i eventually went for another run with Dustin and a little longer by myself in an attempt to find a restroom. we left the meet happy and ready to go home, Paxton told the bus driver that it was my birthday so he annoucced it on the intercom and everyone freaked out screaming and singing! i was laughing sooo hard and then they teased me some more about Susannah! overall it was an amazing running day and i was able to vent out my anger and frustration into my workout and it worked great! sooooo glad i got to run with Susannah again! I LOVE RUNNING SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!
Wed, 20 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Tue, Apr 19, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-19-2011.html Today was a very easy run (Nathan Baker can agree) we weren't trying at all, just super easy and sorta longish, it was fun cause we were just talking and everything and i was trying to purswade Dustin (White Rice) (Not India (Brown Rice) ha ha ha anyways, i'm trying to get him to run cross country next year instead of football (BOOOOO). and i was passing on my wisdom as a senior and all my experience of my four years of running Cross Country to them, and how important it is for them to get miles in the summer, and stuff like that!! it was pretty fun! i'm really gonna miss High School Running!! i'm gonna train with them in the summer though!! and i also told them what keeps me motivated too!! i feel like a mentor!! after we were done running Paxton had us do abs and it was painful like usual mostly cause people wouldn't stop cheating so she would add time on!! Tue, 19 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Mon, Apr 18, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-18-2011.html Well Today we had a workout in the rain!!! it was raining slightly when we went up to the track and was told to do 800m warm up. Then the fun began, like usual i'm up front by myself, pushing myself cause Tyler was doing a different workout and Dustin was taking an off day. It wasn't too bad running by myself again it was just harder to push. But i did it!! so we did 800m warmup and then began static stretching and agilities. Me being me completely forgot to wash off the INDIA written on my left calf and the SH for Susannah Hurst on my right calve :P (i don't mind you initials staying there :D made my right hamstring feel really good while running!) so everyone was wondering why in the world did i have those written on my calves. and what did SH stand for. well i wouldn't tell them and then Jace and a few other people did and i got really embarressed and they started teasing me for it!! ha ha ha i love our team :D ok sooo our work out today was yes from the MRS. EVIL PAXTON!!! dun dun dun!!! ha ha ha it was 3x (800, 400, 200, 200) my splits for each set went, 2:21. 71, 34, 34. second set. 2:20 69, 33, 34. and then last 2:21, 67, 32, 28. it actually was a pretty hard work out, definately challenging! but i was feeling drained really bad, i don't know why but i wasn't feeling not motivated at all to be running, although i had been looking forward to it from a day of literally testing for every single class (4 total) but by the end of the work out i was fighting, pushing, reaching for that 67 and trying to keep my 800's consistant! i did! i was basically speeding up each time too! i'm starting to get smarter with my start to, instead of going way fast, i slow it down a little and then pick it up and i felt that it got me through the workout! it had been raining most of the time, pretty lightly most of the way through which felt pretty darn nice! then when Jace, Jason and I were on our last set is when it really started to rain! it felt way nice and we were making our hair go crazy!! :P once we were done (and we finished before the sprinters for once in the decade!!! don't know how that happened!) ha ha so Jace and i cooled down for a mile and while we were going down the hill i decided to slide down it surfer style which was fun! Ice bath time!!! it was and this time a ton of kids wanted to do them (usually only three or four, but this time about 6 or 7) it was about 50 degrees when i got in and we added more ice but since Big Ben decided to go all the way in, Hone and I had to add more water cause we had to let some out when Ben was in. I stayed in for about 17 minutes and it felt soooooooooo nice afterwards!! my hamstrings are feeling great!!! AND I PROMISE YOU SUSANNAH I WON'T INJURE THEM!!!! :D :D <3 Mon, 18 Apr 2011 06:00:00 Sat, Apr 16, 2011 http://Palmer.fastrunningblog.com/blog-04-16-2011.html Today was the Grizzly Invite!! woke up at a very unwanted time in the morning. we all got onto one bus and then we had to move to another bus because we didn't need two.... we kind of slept but the amazing Susannah called me in the morning and started the day out better than the weather (i love hearing your voice, makes my world go round (that and running)) ha ha well it was raining lightly when we got there and we just had a giant pile up of us guys to keep warm, it was funny and warm. Dustin did pretty darn good in the 3200 ran a 9:53, not his best but then again this is a smaller meet. Then after a billion sprinting events Jace and I finally got to warm up for the mile! Jace was totally pumped cause he wanted to break 5 sooooo bad! he was in the second heat, he ran a 4:55. I was totally ready for my race, i had warmed up great, stretched perfectly, applied biofreeze at the right moments to keep my hamstrings loose. First mistake, i ran with a watch..... i know i cannot do that..... i've known it since being a sophomore and yet i still did it. I was a little nervious, scared and stuff but i told myself: "you know what you just run your own race and hit your times, don't worry about placement or the other runners." it helped a lot. (ps i also had India written on my left calf and SH for Susannah Hurst on my Right) it really started to rain.... like really bad when the 3rd heat (us) lined up. I was mentally strong and ready to go, pumped and excited. the first lap was a 69 i was feeling strong and wonderful (i was going off a 68 pace written on my wrist.....(second mistake)) the second lap was the same 69 i crossed at 2:18. two seconds slow of the pace i was going off of. still good though. I have no idea why, how or what happened during my 3rd and 4th laps. i was right on in the beginning. another thing i couldn't figure out was why my hamstrings were tight and not feeling it. I did everything right, and the sad part is that it wasn't even were i'm injured! my third lap was a 3:34, i would have to run a 60 to get my time. I started to pick it up and i felt like i was running my hardest through the whole race. I still have no idea why or how, i feel sooooo dissapointed in myself right now. I promise next week at the Clearfield meet, i'm running a 4:30!! this is sooo not going to happen again. I Can't wait for next week. the meet wasn't a total bust. the Sun came out and things cleared up. i couldn't do the steeplechase because of my hamstrings :( i did get to talk to susannah again with totally brightened the day. good job with your races and especially with East Girls beating fremont girls!!! :D way to kick pockets Sat, 16 Apr 2011 06:00:00
